Exploring the island of O’ahu Hawai’i was one of my favorite trips I have taken to date. I was lucky enough to have some friends who were living on the island short term and invited my mother and I to come visit and explore the island. And how could anyone say no to visiting Hawai’i, especially during a midwest winter! While visiting the island we split our stay in half spending the first part exploring Honolulu!

Accomodations

For the first half of our Hawaiian adventure we chose to get an Airbnb right by Waikiki to stay in. It kept us close to the beach and within walking distance to a variety of places near by. We arrived on an evening flight and drove to the building in the dark. We were able to find a condo for rent through Airbnb in the Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites.

Early Rising at Cinnamon’s

The next morning we got up and decided to get breakfast at the restaurant that was attached to the building called Cinnamon’s at the ‘Ilikai. And like their name suggests Cinnamon’s is known for their Cinnamon Rolls. In addition to a Cinnamon Roll to split I decided to try out the Eggs Benedict. They had a variety of options and the waitress let me know I could chose two types! So I opted to try the Kalua Pork and Crabcake Eggs Benedict. Check out how good they looked below along with the Cinnamon Roll and some fresh coffee!

Waikiki Beach

One of the main reasons we chose to stay at this particular Airbnb for exploring Honolulu was that it was close to the beach and gave us great views of the Ala Wai Marina. One thing that was really cool was seeing all the surfers off shore learning and trying to catch a wave throughout the morning. I took some time to walk out to the beach and put the drone up and grabbed some footage of people surfing. I didn’t realize it at the time, but the DJI app can automatically generate a highlight reel from your footage so here is a 30 second highlight from Waikiki Beach!

Additionally, the sunrise views down by the beach from our Airbnb were breathtaking. Getting up early to witness the calm waters and empty beaches was a real treat. I captured the image below one morning while walking down to the water early in the morning. If you aren’t a morning person, visiting Hawai’i might just turn you into one.

I have a bunch more stories to share about exploring Honolulu and the rest of this trip, some of which have already been posted on the blog. You can find those here. I can’t wait until the next time I can visit Hawai’i. Until then keep Exploring Every Day and Seeking Discovery. Keep an eye out for our next Hawaiian story coming real soon!

  1. Asking questions are actually fastidious thing if you are not understanding anything totally, except this piece of writing presents nice understanding yet.|

  2. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is needed to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web savvy so I’m not 100 positive. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks|
