How To Find Cheap Flights Anywhere | Skyscanner

One of the most frustrating parts of traveling can be trying to find the best deals and cheapest flights to your destination. If someone were to ask me on the street: “How to find cheap flights?” I would respond with one word, Skyscanner. If you are not familiar with Skyscanner, it is an online searching tool to locate flights similar to Expedia or Google Flights, but in my experience Skyscanner has the cheapest deals out of any. 

Explore Everywhere

My favorite feature that Skyscanner has that I haven’t seen anywhere else is the option to Explore Everywhere. If you are like me and love to travel, but aren’t sure where to go or want to find the cheapest destination, then Explore Everywhere is perfect for you as well! It is as simple as entering the airport closest to you and finding out where the cheapest place to fly is. For our example we will plan an extended weekend trip over Memorial Day Weekend. The trip will be from May 23, 2019 to May 28, 2019 leaving from Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

After entering the start and end airport and selecting the destination as everywhere with our travel dates we can begin searching for flights. The first page to show up after searching is a breakdown by country and the cheapest price for a city in that country. In this case, the cheapest options are the United States, Mexico and Belize.

Flight Selection

After checking out these different options, since this is a budget weekend trip I selected the United States to see where I could go inexpensively. One of my favorite places to travel just happens to be one of the cheapest options for this long weekend. If you have never been to New York City, I highly recommend checking it out. There is so much amazing food and activities to explore in the city. So let’s select New York as the destination.

Skyscanner searches a massive list of airlines to find the best deals. If you are curious which airlines they include you can see the list on their website. After selecting New York a list of flights shows on the screen ranking from cheapest to most expensive. For our search there was over 900 flights found. The top two airlines were Spirit and Delta coming in at under $150 for a roundtrip flight. Personally I would pick Delta over Spirit, but that is because I am a Delta SkyMiles Member so I can earn rewards by flying with them.

Booking The Trip

From this point you would have the option to book through Skyscanner or go to the airlines site and try to book the same deal directly with the airline. The nice thing about Skyscanner is, they take the work out of search for the best deals everywhere. Recently I used Skyscanner to find my flights for a trip to Thailand that I will be taking. The round trip flight cost was more than $200 under my budget! That money can now be put into more adventures when I am in Thailand. Be sure to check out Skyscanner for your next trip to everywhere!

Fly Anytime

One of feature of Skyscanner that I wanted to mention is the option to search by month. Say you want to take a weekend trip somewhere, but are flexible on the weekend. Skyscanner gives you the option to search entire months for deals to find the cheapest days. The is one of my favorite things to use when I know I want to go on a trip anytime! Try it out and see what you find for deals.
