In the last post we talked about where we were staying while exploring Honolulu. If you haven’t checked that one out yet, you can find it here! In part 2 we will focus on some cool experiences including viewing fireworks, more food and visiting the Pearl Harbor memorial. Let’s jump right in!
Friday Night Fireworks
One of the best parts when visiting friends in a popular tourist destination is they know the little tips and tricks as a local. On this trip one of those tips was that every Friday night Waikiki has a firework show. Lucky enough they had some friends with a sailboat in the marina next to our Airbnb that had great viewing for the fireworks. We went down early, enjoyed some drinks and snacks while watching the fireworks off in the distance. This was a great way to spend the evening visiting and meeting some other locals! If you are ever in the Waikiki/Honolulu area on a Friday night check the Hilton website to see what time the fireworks are!
More Food!
By far one of my favorite things to do while traveling is enjoy some good food. Near our Airbnb there were plenty of options to try. One of my favorite hole in the wall places we went to was a little pub down by the marina. It took a little looking for to find because it was actually in the lower corner of a high rise building and would be easy to miss! The place was called Harbor Pub & Pizza. Although it felt a little dated when we walked in the food and drink made up for it. Service was quick and we walked away nice and full! So if you are looking for some good pizza along the beach in Waikiki come check them out for sure!

Pearl Harbor Memorial
One of the must visit places when on Oah’u is the Pearl Harbor Memorial. There is something very surreal about walking around a historical place like this. Unfortunately during the time we were visiting, the Arizona Memorial was under refurbishment which meant we were not allowed to get off the boat and truly experience the memorial. There is a lot of history included and self guided tours you can do while visiting the site. I would highly encourage anyone who is planning a trip to Oah’u to plan at least half of the day to experience the memorial. We also booked our’s with a multi experience tour company so after visiting Pear Harbor we had a bus tour around Honolulu which was cool to learn more about the local history of the island!

There is so much to do in the greater Honolulu area. If you are spending part of your trip there be sure to go exploring Honolulu. If you enjoy outdoor hiking I would highly recommend the Lanikai Pillbox hike! Its about 45 minutes from Waikiki but one of the best hikes I’ve ever been on. Check out my post: Best Oahu Hike 2019 | Lanikai Pillbox to learn about my 5am wakeup call to go hike it at sunrise! There are plenty more stories to come from my Oah’u adventure so be sure to check back regularly for more stories and tips for the island! As always keep Seeking Discovery and Explore Every Day!
