What is the best kind of travel? Free travel! A great way to take advantage of free travel is work trips. I was in Pittsburgh, PA recently for a work conference. After working at the conference during the day we went and explored around the city. While looking for Pittsburgh restaurants we found one of the best places in the city that serves lots of balls…meatballs that is. Not a traditional restaurant but boy do these guys know balls. I apologize in advance for any ball related jokes…enjoy.
While exploring Pittsburgh restaurants to eat at we found Emporio: A Meatball Joint. Emporio is on the main level of Sienna Mercato in the city, while Emporio also has another location in Wexford for us, eating in the city was easier because we could walk to it. The menu here is pretty straight forward. You select your type of balls, sauces, and sides. And if you like ball jokes, this is the best place to make them!
Simple Yet Custom Menu
Drinks For Days
There were so many options that sounded good. In addition to their food menu, they have an extensive drink menu. While there I got a Lagunitas Pils which is a Czech-Style Pilsner beer and my friend got the Strawberry Basil Lemonade! Both were delicious and refreshing. You really can’t go wrong ordering any one of the drinks on their menu!
Time For Saucy Balls
One of the preparation options for you meatballs is Saucy Balls. This means you select your ball type, and then can select a variety of sauces either on top or on the side. In my case, I selected the the Tomato Basil Cream on the balls and a side of Mac & Cheese with Government Cheese. The Tomato Basil Cream Sauce was velvety and so smooth. One of the best I have had and the Mac & Cheese with Government Cheese was absolutely perfect. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to order another sauce to try.
Luckily, my friend ordered different sauces so I was able to sample the Crack Sauce which had some spice to it as well as the Tomato Risotto, both were phenomenal. Again you can’t go wrong ordering anything! We were so full from all the balls that we decided not to get desert, but I have no doubt that it would be just as good as the rest of the meal.
Get Your Fill Of Balls
There is no doubt in my mind that I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Pittsburgh. The service was great, there were plenty of selections, including gluten free options for my friend, and the atmosphere was fun. You’ll be sure to get your fill of balls at this restaurant. We almost went back a second time while in the city, but decided to continue to explore other places.
