Food, Food, Food! One of my favorite things when traveling is trying the local cuisine. Caye Caulker Belize was no exception! I was excited to embrace the island life and see what types of food were available at my finger tips. One thing I can guarantee is that anything you get locally prepared will be delicious. Come along and explore some of the local favorites I discovered during my time on the island.
When in Doubt, Google
With the technology that is available today, there is no excuse for not trying new restaurants. It is easy to Google a location and get numerous reviews as well as find the menus. This is also true, even for a small island. So if you aren’t sure where to start then head over to Google and take a look at all the options. Another great idea is just talk to the locals. If you are staying in a hostel or hotel ask the host where their favorite place to eat is. After all they live there and know the local favorites.
Breakfast: The Most Important Meal of the Day
When you think of tropical island living, I bet crepes don’t come to mind. Located right by the boat pier where people arrive on the island is a cozy little restaurant called Crepes & Dreams and if you are looking for some great breakfast this is the place to go! They have plenty of sweet treats to fill you up in the morning and of course a nice cup of coffee to go with it. Check out the image below of the crepe I got while visiting. It was so good! Snacks, Drinks, and Dinner
Okay, real talk right now. You’re on vacation… you probably slept in way later than normal and your breakfast turned into brunch. If you are like me and mostly eat brunch while traveling then there is no need for a formal lunch. There is plenty of variation when it comes to snacks while relaxing by the ocean or hanging out in a hammock. Also if you are embracing the island life, then its always 5 O’clock somewhere… and just like snacks, there are plenty of drinks to wet your whistle. Like I mentioned earlier food is one of my favorite parts of traveling. For how small Caye Caulker is there sure are a lot of places to grab dinner. We were lucky enough to try a bunch of them.
