Yellowstone National Park | Not Your Average Park

Grand Canyon of Yellowstone

As mentioned in the last post, Yellowstone National Park contains breathtaking views. Traveling through the park is an amazing experience. After visiting the hot springs and geysers there is still so much to see. One of the locations with a great view is taking a drive around Yellowstone Lake on Hwy 20. The road wraps around about half of the massive lakes which leads the way to breathtaking views of the mountains in the distance. Check out the map on the parks website.

Hiking Yellowstone

If you aren’t afraid of a little exercise while visiting Yellowstone, I would recommend checking out the Natural Bridge Trail. This trail is roughly 2.5 miles roundtrip. Although the trail is 2.5 miles it is not difficult, the trail passes through the woods and continues on a service road before turning back to the woods for the final leg. After traveling down the trail, you’ll be rewarded with some awesome views of a natural stone bridge. Additionally, there is a trail that is steep and includes switchbacks to get to the top of the bridge.

Contrasting Views

Yellowstone is filled with numerous ecosystems, but those ecosystems can be very contrasting. We have talked about the hot springs, geysers and mountains, but the park also contain some great rolling hills as well. The variety of views seen in the park will take anyone’s breath away. Checkout the photo below that looks almost like a computer background!

Grand Canyon of Yellowstone

Now most people are familiar with the actual Grand Canyon, but did you know there is another massive canyon in Yellowstone that has been carved by water? The canyon varies from 800 to 1400 feet in depth and between 1500 to 4000 feet in width. The canyon has a total length of 24 miles. When I first heard about this I knew I had to check it out. Although I wasn’t sure what to expect, I was blown away with how massive this actually was. Check out the photos below highlighting this amazing natural feature!

There is one more leg to this journey. In the next post we will be sharing the final stop on this road trip: Badlands National Park! Keep an eye out for the next post to follow along with the final post. As always be sure to get out and keep Seeking Discovery each and every day!
